UK Senior Mathematical Challenge 08/09

04/09/2009

Mathematics is at the heart of the College's curriculum given its relevance to our aspiring doctors, scientists, engineers and economists and the departmental staff stretch their students via classes for the Sixth Term Exam Paper (STEP) and AEA award. In addition, students are entered for the UK Senior Mathematical Challenge.

Twenty-one of the College's A-level mathematicians performed extremely well in this year's UK Senior Mathematical Challenge and the haul of Gold certificates exceeded that of 2007/08. Nine students were awarded Gold Certificates, with three receiving silver certificates and nine receiving bronze certificates.

From amongst the nine Gold Certificate winners, three progressed to the British Mathematics Olympiad Round 1 and Min Jiawei won a Gold Medal in the British Mathematics Olympiad Round 2.
