International Chemistry Olympiad

30/07/2009

Three of Abbey College London's finest chemists recently took part in round 1 of the International Chemistry Olympiad organised by the Royal Society of Chemistry. Round 1 is a challenging written test of chemical knowledge and the questions posed often stimulate much debate on, and enthusiasm for, chemistry - raising awareness of what the subject is all about. Tackling the Round I paper also provides a good opportunity to develop some of the skills required for study at university and beyond.

Hoang Viet Nguyen, who has an offer from Trinity College, Cambridge to read engineering, achieved gold; Mehrad Jaberi who has offers from UK medical schools achieved silver and Rambod Yousefzadeh-Tabasi, currently in the Lower VI, achieved bronze.
