The College's Chinese and Vietnamese students celebrated New Year in fine style recently. Assisted by Senior Tutor Louise Hunt, the students planned the event and prepared and served up a range of delicious food for students and staff to celebrate the arrival of the Year of the Tiger. Students Cong Jialin from China and Pham Viet Linh from Vietnam made a hugely informative and interesting presentation about the differences between the Chinese and Vietnamese zodiacs and provided advice for their British friends at the College as to what are and are not appropriate gifts to give to Chinese and Vietnamese as a New Year present. For example, if a wrist watch or a clock is given as a present this would be seen as telling the recepient of the gift that friendship has finished.

Vice Principal Lee Roberts commented "The whole event was a fine example of how students from diverse backgrounds can come together and celebrate cultural events that can foster mutual respect and understanding."
